Children With Special Needs & Their Right To A Quality Education

Children have goals, dreams, and aspirations.  Although children may not be able to frame their ambitions into big sentences, they “kind of” know what they “like” and where their interest lie.

As parents and caregivers, you want your children to be inspired to do their very best and encouraged to work at their fullest potential.

In 2006, UNICEF defined a quality education (in part) as, “including processes through which trained teachers use child-centered teaching approaches in well-managed classrooms and schools and skillful assessment to facilitate learning and reduce disparities.”

Schools, administrators, and educators are entrusted with our most precious assets… our children.  It is therefore our schools’ responsibility to provide children with excellent curriculum, various and effective teaching methods, student encouragement, positive parent engagement, and support.

Unfortunately, there are times when parents, caregivers, and students feel their voices regarding their educational needs and protections are not being heard.  Does your child have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan?
